The ABC Lab at UTRGV is hiring a postdoc!

The Astrobiochemistry Lab is hiring a postdoc! The research topic broadly encompass life detection (on the chemical side) and riverine/fluid dynamics research – Titan or Mars are the obvious choices, but we can target other bodies. This is a joint position with Tian Y. Dong (https://www.tian-y-dong.com/; geomorphologist).

Starting date is September 2024-January 2025, though this is somewhat flexible. The duration is of 13 months extendable to an extra year.

Myrine Barreiro-Arevalo of the ABC Lab at UTRGV Honored with Prestigious JSPS Summer Fellowship

We are proud to announce that Myrine Barreiro-Arevalo, our doctoral student, has been awarded the prestigious Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Summer Fellowship to continue to groundbreaking efforts in her dissertation research. The JSPS Summer Fellowship recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of science and technology, providing researchers with the opportunity to engage in collaborative research activities with leading scientists in Japan. She will be collaborating with Dr. Tomoaki Matsuura of the Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI) at Tokyo Institute of Technology, learning microfluidics skills and other methodologies of creating vesicles.

We are incredibly grateful to JSPS for giving Myrine this opportunity. Myrine receiving the JSPS Summer Fellowship is an honor that validates the ABC Lab’s efforts and inspires us to continue our mission of uncovering the mysteries of the origins of life.
